The liver and the gallbladder play some of the most important roles in our health.
The dysfunction of these organs compromises not only food digestion, but also nutrient absorption and the excretion of the toxins produced upon the completion of the digestive process.
An inefficient functioning of the liver and/or gallbladder does not happen only due to illness and may happen in healthy individuals for a variety of factors.
The most common factors include genetic predisposition, infections, excessive use of medication, alcohol, etc.

Concerning the hepatobilliary system (liver and gallbladder), medicinal plants mainly act in three ways: coleretic, cholagogue, and protection of hepatic cells.
Coleretic plants help increase the amount of bile secreted in the liver. Bile is stored in the gallbladder, until the passage of food causes its emptying into the intestine.
By increasing bile products, coleretic plants decongest the liver and aid digestion. This type of plants is especially used in hepatic alterations.
Cholagogue plants facilitate gallbladder bile emptying into the duodenum, facilitating the correct function of the biliary system. When gallstones are present, special care must be taken when using cholagogue plants, because there is a potential risk of obstruction of the bile duct.
The plants included in Hepato tecnilor® help protect and regenerate liver cells.

Cardus marianus (Silybum marianum) is one of the most commonly used plants for liver ailments, since it protects liver cells, with scientifically proven results, being, therefore, included in many pharmaceutical preparations. Its active ingredient, silymarin, helps regenerate liver cells damaged by toxic substances such as alcohol and others.
Silymarin aids bile secretion, improving difficult digestions and preventing the formation of gallstones.

Boldo (Peumus boldus) is one of the most commonly used medicinal plants in the preparation of pharmaceutical products and food supplements to treat the liver and gallbladder.
Being rich in alkaloids, particularly boldine (containing about 30%), flavonoids, glucócitos, and essential oils (eucalyptol), it acts synergistically to increase the production of bile, to accelerate the emptying of the gallbladder and to facilitate digestion.
It also assists in case of a congested or intoxicated liver, prevents the formation of new gallstones, prevents stops existing gallstones from increasing in size, and facilitates the functioning of the intestines.

Artichoke's compounds (cynarine and cynaropicrin) allow this plant to help protect the liver and the gallstone bladder, stimulating liver cells regeneration and helping eliminate toxins accumulated in the hepatic system.
It also increases bile secretion, thereby aiding the digestion of fats in cases of liver malfunction and lazy gallbladder.
It prevents the formation of gallstones and helps burn fat.
This food supplement also aids the reduction of cholesterol levels, as well as other lipids in the blood, preventing arteriosclerosis.
It also increases diuresis, increasing the urea metabolism by easing its elimination, and maintains healthy uric acid levels in the body, helping detoxifying it.
The use of this plant's extract is contraindicated in people with hypersensitivity to the plant, acid stomach, severe biliary and renal obstructions and in breastfeeding women.
Commission E and ESCOPE recommend this plant for dispeptic problems for its coleretic action.

Choline and Inositol are essential components to all cell membranes, acting as cell signalling molecules.
Both are involved in the metabolism of fatty acids in the liver, being therefore essential in averting atherosclerosis, which leads to arterial obstruction by fat plaques.

Raphanus sativus, with colagogue - exciting bile ducts, facilitating bile emptying into the duodenum - and coleretic proprieties - remarkably stimulating liver cells to produce bile.
These proprieties help decongest and detox our organism.

Vitamin A impacts the cell specialisation process.
Vitamin B6 contributes towards the normal metabolism of proteins and glycogen.

Manganese and Selenium contribute to the protection of cells against oxidative stress.
Zinc contributes to the normal metabolism of fatty acids.
People who frequently take medications (for chronic illnesses) should take HEPATO tecnilor ® as a prevention mechanism.
